for doing what? hairy carpets? beautiful virtual girls? toys? You architecture and furniture guys offten forget, that this is not the only usage of 3D. I finished an animation project this year where the main characters were 4 bears. I did it with Octane cause the deadline was tight and guess what.. no fur on bears.. only textue.

1) As a stopgap for Particles and Volumetrics, a full featured implementation of OpenEXR 2.0's new Deep Data feature would allow you to more easily comp those passes generated from other sources. If it was a choice between having OpenEXR 2.0 in 6 months or Particles/Volumetrics in 12 months, I would opt for OpenEXR 2.0. 2) Please consider (if technically feasible) adding OpenVBD or Fields3D ...

Octane Render 1.022 beta2.2 RC3 available [obsolete]
Seem fps and samples vary a lot in latest RC but there is a speed improvement.. and when I turn AA on there is no speed slow down.. Congrats , feels much solid than RC2 and filled with new toys . I'm little confused by new roughness slider though. you can make an endless variety of textures by making complex combinations with what's available.
Noise reduction - OTOY Forums
Hi all With all this time on my hands right now its allowing to to get stuck in more to octane but also coming up against issues that need remedies. Im rendering out glass but am getting quite a bit of noise in the texture. I've upped the denoiser but its still occurring as you can see from my screen shot. Does anyone have any good remedies for this type of thing? Thanks PG

Pretty sure that this is a beginner question, I have been doing some renders to get my stuff looking like toys, but I notice that my materials tend to look "patchy" with octane so I tried tweaking settings, but nothing seems to be working.

Fisheye camera [REQ] - OTOY Forums
Definitely support this. It is a fundamental requirement for full dome creation, and it seems that Octane is already very close with its Panoramic options. It would be great for us to see a true equidistant, circular fisheye camera with adjustable FOV in V3.
